North Ayrshire Athletics Club is running a series of classes for young people of all ages interested in learning the basics of athletics
A new block of the mini athlete programs starts this Sunday providing a great introduction to sport with fun games and specifically designed drills to help improve coordination, mobility and motor skills. The indoor class is held at the KA Campus in St Matthew’s Academy in Saltcoats and is suitable for children between 3 and 7 years old.
The Club Access Programme is a new-pay-as-you-go fun class provided by the award winning team of highly qualified coaches at North Ayrshire Athletics Club. Aimed at young people between the ages of 7 and 13 years, it is an ideal stepping stone from K:A leisure’s run jump throw class or for those who wish to enter the sport for the first time. The class is held at the all-weather synthetic track at KA Campus, St Matthew’s Academy.
North Ayrshire Athletics Club Chairperson, Blair Pettigrew, commented “These fun based classes will provide aspiring young athletes with the foundation in the core aspects of sport to enable them to progress within our club.
“The Mini Athletes programme is indoors and is a great social experience for the youngsters, who will learn the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing.
“Young athletes wanting to join the club must now complete a block of our new Club Access Programme, which is a non-competitive programme teaching the basics of athletics. It is an outdoors class, so dress for the weather.”
Mini athletics classes run on Sundays 10.30- 11.15am for 3 and 4 year olds and 11.15am – 12noon for 5 – 7 year olds. The Club Access Programme, for 7-13 year olds runs on a Monday evening between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. All classes are priced at £2.50 or £25 for the 12 week block.
